They belong to Same family but feelings are different – ‘ALARM’ I hate whereas ‘SNOOZE’ I love.

We all on the same page (there are exceptions) we don’t like to disturb our morning’s sound sleep. The common feeling is ‘I just slept’, night passed quickly than anything else.

Common phrase we use to our self or someone who is waking us is give me ‘5min’.

What is your morning routine?

Let me brief you about my very busy morning routine…Haha! (because I know most of us corporate working professional is having the same routine specially who is enjoying bachelor’s life like me). Alarms are not made for me but snoozes are my friend. No matter how many early morning alarms I set but I woke up somewhere around 8-8:30 AM. It’s in my blood yeah, I mean it. Because it’s from my father he used to wake up around the same time every day. For him 5am - 8:30am is his sound sleep if he gets only that sleep than it’s enough for him. I’m gifted with the same. THANK YOU, DADDY.

Immediately after I wake up, I walk blindly to have a 2-3 glass of water, then directly enters to ‘HEAVEN’ (a bathroom, you know) which is followed by shower. Then I got dressed, do morning prayer, prepare Veggie smoothie (Bottle Gourd, Tomato, Spinach, Cucumber, Banana/Apple and Ginger) for me as a breakfast. Then out for office and return at __? __ god knows, it’s corporate dear. I usually took dinner outside so, once back to home I quickly take shower and brush up my teeth. Has your morning routine changed over recent days/months or years?

A few days before I didn’t sleep whole night as I was watching movie and suddenly, I realize it’s morning (5:30 am). I opened my window curtains and the curtains add an orange glow to the morning light, a perfect sunrise. Then a chorus of birds breaks the drone of the city traffic. I know it's too early to be up, but I feel like I've waited for this day for so long.

A fresh air, no pollution, no noise, no traffic nothing very quiet. Every night I decide to go for jogging early in the morning but every morning I say to myself ‘from tomorrow’.

But that morning was different, I quickly took shower and went out for Jogging.

I returned after 30 min with milk pouch. I prepared coffee and set in balcony with - ‘Myself’ first time ever in my life.

Have you ever talk with yourself?

First time in my life we had healthy discussion (Me & Myself) that morning on Personal & professional challenges, my bad routine, my bad habits and future plan and guess what we made it, yeah it was very simple actually we don’t need anyone else to solve our problems we have ‘WE’ I realize it on that day.

Then we had promised to each other to have ‘ME’ time every morning either during jogging or over a breakfast.

We became so dependent that in every moment of life we need someone else’s opinion or help to resolve our problem. Which is not helpful for long term, at the end of the day what matters is our own opinion & decision not someone else’s. For that we need to sit back and need healthy discussion with our own self, defiantly you will get answer. It might be somewhere wrong but we will learn and improve. As a result, at least we will stop our self by blaming someone else every time for what is happening in our life.
Look at me If I can do it then we all can do it. That day has changed so many things in my life.

What time do you go to sleep?

My friends always joke that I’m like their parents who gets unplugged at 10:00pm (especially after that magical morning). I’m going, going, going, and then, BOOM, Jay’s done! In general, I try to be in bed by 10:30 and asleep by 11:00.

Do you do anything before going to bed to make your morning easier?

Most nights before I go to sleep, I brush my teeth, took shower and read book for a while. I bring my vitamin supplement tablet out for next day, do sorting of vegetables for smoothie that saves my next morning time and so I can have more ‘ME’ time.

How is your relation with ‘Alarm’?

I’ve briefed you guys about how I was friendly with snooze. But right after that morning I had only one alarm for all day fixed i.e 5:45 AM. For couple of day it was hell for me to adopt sudden change but what is there in my mind is that fresh air, peace and ‘ME’ time.

So, we (me & snooze) are no longer friends after that morning and finally I’ve started making my bed.

How about your morning workout routine?

Sweating in cool breeze is having its own feeling. I don’t force myself to work out for long time but yes, now I don’t miss it. First Jogging (2-3 km) then skipping for 5min. I spend approx. 20-25 min on workout daily, except SUNDAY.

How do you care about your belly in the morning, what do you feed to it?

I’m not feeling hungry until a few hours after I wake up. I still on my smoothie routine and skip the solid breakfast which is not at all right practice at all and I’m working on it.

What Do you do first thing in the morning?

Let me guess … Checking phone for messages, posts from friend, likes shares and all. How can I be wrong, I ‘was’ doing exactly the same.

But not now, now I’ve changed You know!
I don’t touch my phone or IPad (unless anything urgent) till I finish my own customised routine.

Technology which are making our lives easy are also depriving our self with us and our closest pals. So, at least have some ‘ME’ time before start your day.

How flexible are you with our routine on weekends?

We have Sunday week off. So, on Saturday night, usually I read book for late night or watch movie. But reading book to get immediate sleep doesn’t work out for Saturday.

I don’t force myself to follow routine on Sunday., so, I sleep like lazy bunny (if boss allows).

Once I’m up, I prepare my breakfast and then take a shower. Then I usually go to play golf and then to visit my sister who is in same city. That day usually I sleep early then the routine time.

. . .

Now, does this routine happen perfectly every single day? Nope. But if I slack off or get out of the routine, I give myself grace and restart the next day.

My morning routine has also changed and evolved over time as every day the circumstances of our lives have changed. It’s a process that we’re always examining and working on getting better at in order to create smooth mornings for everyone in our family!
